On The Sunny Side Layout

Yes, I did a layout!  It's been at least 3 years since I've scrapbooked a picture of anything!  When I saw My Mind's Eye "On The Sunny Side" 6x6 Paper Pad, I knew this was the paper for my return to layouts!  Everyone say it with me...It's So Cute!
I also bought some accompanying embellishments to help me out.
The decorative brads and...
The 12x12 Accessory Sheet.

When I saw the bicycle with "Enjoy the Ride" sentiment on the accessory sheet, I knew just what kind of layout I wanted to do.

So here's my daughter on her first "big girl" bicycle, which she got for her 4th birthday!

Here are some close-ups:

Now if I could just learn how to take decent photos! :)

Home Spun Affair - Color Challenge June

I came across Home Spun Affair's Blog and decided to join in on their June Color Challenge with the colors being Yellow, Pink and Salmon.

Here's my card:
The yellow and salmon colored papers come from Lawn Fawn's Petite Paper Pack and the pink paper and the paper for the owl came from Echo Park's So Happy Together 6x6 Pad.  The paper that the "Thank You" is embossed on is salmon, but I think it's hard to tell in the lighting.

I feel I'm lacking in the area of embellishments, so I try to make up for it with with texture.  I ran the pink paper through my paper crimper to give it some texture.  I used my Sizzix "Thank You" embossing folders for the sentiment.  I used my Stampin' Up textured impressions "Adorning Accents" for the top and bottom of the background (yellow) paper.  My owl is pieced together from the Stampin' Up Owl Punch.  The Xyron Create-a-Sticker comes in SO HANDY when piecing together small pieces like this!  And of course, I had to distress ink every possible edge thanks to Vintage Photo distress ink! :)  A little twin and some pop dots and it's all done!

Hope you enjoyed!  Go get your craft on!

Echo Park Sweet Day Project Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends,

If you subscribe to Echo Park's newsletter, you should have gotten an email about a Sweet Day project challenge.  I was bummed I couldn't participate when I saw it, because I didn't have their Sweet Day collection...until my order from I {Heart} Papers arrived in which I ordered 4 6x6 pads (on sale) and had totally forgotten that one of them was the Sweet Day 6x6 pad!  Woo-Hoo!  This paper is so cute! (I know, I say that about ALL the cute 6x6's out there!)
So here's the card I created.

I used the "flowers" embossing folder from the Dots & Flowers Sizzix set for the top part of the card.  The yellow rose ribbon is something I've had for a while now...so long I can't remember where I got it!  I used the Sizzix 5 Dies Framelits - Stars (2 of the framelits) to make the stars, and then I scored them to give them a 3-D effect.  I tied a little baker's twine around them for a little more added detail.   Add the Happy Birthday banner and Voila!  Oh, and of course I had to ink all the edges with distress ink...peeled paint was my ink of choice since I just bought it and was dying to use it for the first time. :)

But wait, there's more!  Since I had all the paper out, I decided to go ahead and do another card with this 6x6 pad.  Here you go:
Side Note:  Later in the day, this card fell over ("face" first) onto an open red distress ink pad and got some on the front of it.  SO glad I took a picture of it before it got defaced!  And luckily, it'll be easy enough to reproduce if necessary! :)

Time to go get YOUR craft one!
